We’ve Arrived at the Creekfire RV Resort

This is the site we left in Florida on New Year’s Day. We gave ourselves 2 days to make the 8-hour drive to Savannah so we didn’t arrive grumpily and at night. It didn’t take us too long to tear down, get loaded up and leave Florida. We were trying to beat the rain. We arrived in Florida in mid-October and I think it rained almost every day! The day we left the ground was soaked and big puddles everywhere.

We stayed New Year’s Day night at Lake Park Campground in Lake Park Georgia. It was right off the interstate and not very expensive, but I wouldn’t stay there again. The roads in the campground are so narrow and the sites are so close together.  If the people beside us hadn’t left before we did, I don’t think we could have out got around them to pull out. We’ve been told by many RVers to just stay in a Wal-Mart parking lot when just passing through. Next time I think we will.

CreekFire RV resort, where we are now, is really easy to get to since it’s right off I-95. And, the roads are plenty wide enough. This campground is less than 2 years old and really nice. All the people we’ve met here have been very friendly too. There are too many amenities to list here so I’m just going to post the link to their website, http://www.Creekfirerv.com   It does really look like the pictures and below are a few of mine too.

Dave and I started working  Monday. We got here last Wednesday and were told to take time to get settled in, look around and check out Savannah. So we did and have enjoyed it so far. I’ll write about some of the places we’ve visited in another blog.

Dave’s going to be working pretty much with the Maintenance crew and I’m going to be working in several areas. I think the plan for me is to help out wherever needed.  Monday, I started learning housekeeping and how to escort RVs to their sites. Later I’ll be on the schedule for activities and events. I’m not sure what that is yet, but I’ll find out.

A few people have asked me what the prices are here. When we find out more we’ll let you know. I think they’re posted on the website and are different for different sites and different cabins. I don’t know yet if we can get a discounted rate or not. I think we can if it is not on a busy weekend.

Here are a few “fun facts” about Savannah.

Savannah is the oldest city in Georgia and has been dubbed “America’s First Planned City”.

Parts of Forrest Gump and Midnight in the Garden of Good and Evil were both partially filmed in Savannah

The Irish were among Savannah’s first settlers, which is why the city has one of the largest St Patrick’s Day parades in the country.

Today we’re going to the ” haunted” Pirate’s House restaurant for lunch. http://www.thepirateshouse.com I’ll let you know if we get out safely.

Aaaar!
